Sell your standing timber to a local Ohio buyer
We are timber buyers working with landowners across Ohio and northern West Virginia. You get a walkthrough, a tally and a written offer — and you are free to say no to all of it.
You do not have to know what you have
Most people who call us have never sold timber before. They know roughly how many acres of woods they own and not much else — not the species, not the sizes, and certainly not the value. That is normal, and it is our job, not yours.
What you should not do is take the first number somebody offers at the end of your driveway. Standing timber is often the single largest asset on a rural property outside the land itself, and the gap between a fair offer and a lowball one on the same woodlot can be tens of thousands of dollars.
What we need from you to start
- Roughly where the property is — county and nearest town is enough
- Roughly how many wooded acres, even as a guess
- Whether it has been cut before, and when, if you know
- A phone number to call you back on
That is it. Everything else we work out on the ground.
What you get before you decide anything
We walk the woods with you, tally what is merchantable, and come back with a written offer that spells out which trees we are buying, what we will do about access, roads and landings, and how and when you get paid. If the number is not what you hoped, you keep the information and we part on good terms.
Two ways a timber sale usually goes wrong
Both are avoidable, and both are why the walkthrough matters more than the handshake.
The number was never based on anything
An operator drives by, looks at the road frontage and offers a round figure on the spot. No tally, nothing in writing, no list of which trees. It is fast and it feels easy, and it is almost always well under what the timber is worth.
Ask anybody who makes you an offer to show you how they arrived at it. If there is no answer, that is your answer.
The woods were left a mess
The timber goes, and what stays behind is rutted skid trails, a torn-up lane, tops left in the creek and a landing that will not grow grass again for years. The check cleared months ago and the mess is permanently yours.
This is what Best Management Practices exist to prevent, and it is why we put the cleanup terms in the contract rather than leaving them to goodwill.
What drives the offer
Six things, in roughly this order. Anybody who quotes you a price over the phone has skipped all of them.
Find out what your woods are worth
We will walk your property, tally what is there and tell you straight what it is worth — at no cost, and with no obligation to sell.
Joe or Autty answers the phone. Or send your details and we will call you.
